Plumbing Rough-in

PVC waste and vent lines went in yesterday, PEX hot and cold water supply lines were run today. They plan to connect to the rural water line tomorrow and set the septic tank, it's the size of a small mini-van. The electric meter socket was set last week, we'll show a picture of that some other day. Hopefully the metal roof will be on this week, the materials were delivered a week ago.

More Walls Framed

Here are some photos of more walls that we got framed on Sunday. The plumbers showed up today and put in all of the waste and vent piping throughout the house, and installed the showers. Those pictures tomorrow if there is nothing better...

Interior Walls

Things seem to be moving more quickly now inside. After 2 relatively relaxed days of framing interior walls, now most of the walls upstairs are in. The center dividing wall is the main one that remains. There are a few more, but you can really feel the interior space now. The remaining walls are some of the more challenging ones though, but shouldn't be bad. Here are some photos of yesterday's work, tomorrow we will post some showing what was done today. Michele even laid out and cut all of the pieces for the doorway to the storage under the stairs all by herself. (She musta had a good teacher...) Thanks again to Steve for all of his hard work this afternoon.

Strangers

Maybe it's just me but when I go to Lowe's and need help the workers seem to run in the opposite direction. Yesterday (Sunday), Jon sent me to get a specific type of screw. I could not find it so I went hunting for an employee, with no luck. As I decide to try one more time on my own, a complete stranger comes up and starts to help me. He had no luck finding it either, but he came up with several alternatives-and managed to find the elusive employee "help". In the end they didn't have the correct screws but I also had to explain what a concrete screw was, so who knows. So the moral of the story...find a nice fellow customer and forget asking the employees for help.

Windows Installed

With the help of Chad Johnson, now most of the Pella windows are installed. All 4 windows on the West side, all 4 windows on the East side, 1 on the North, and 1 on the South are now installed. All that is left now are the 2 large windows for the Dining and Living rooms, and the one broken by the wind remain to put in, along with the 2 doors upstairs and the sliding glass door in the basement. Then the house will be enclosed!

As Michele said previously, the basement walls are mostly framed, and the walls upstairs will be framed soon.

Here are some photos from today!

Random info.

Life has been a bit crazy for us. Since our last post:
  • We've been in the process of packing our duplex and moving in with Jon's parents. Our lease is officially up on Saturday so I still have some time to finish up. I need to clean and then we should be done. My mom is going to come up to help!!! As we packed and moved most of our stuff fits into one room of Aron and Myra's house. We are so lucky to have such amazing friends who are willing to store so much for months.
  • We have stairs!!! I know this sounds silly but I really wanted the stairs put in. Brett came out and put them in for us.
  • Jon and his cousin Matt put tar paper on the roof. After some of the recent storms about half is left.
  • Framing has started. We've got most of the basement done and are about to move on to the upstairs. Jon took off Monday to get the framing going. It was a fun day for me also, I got to babysit Jon's cousin's son.

Roof Structure

We set the roof trusses a week and a half ago, and finished sheeting the roof last night. The windows just delivered an hour ago. This weekend (4th of July) we'll set some windows and start framing the interior walls in the basement. One of the benefits I can offer volunteers is the ability to request any food, and we might even get it!
