As promised in one of our first posts, we are inviting anyone who's interested to come help this weekend. The planned project is setting the roof trusses.
Today I had the chance to go watch them pour the walls of our house, despite the rain. It was amazing how fast it all happened. When I saw the four concrete trucks line up on the road, I have to admit I was surprised that we'd need so many. The funny looking truck in the pictures in a pump truck that they used to get the concrete where it needed to go.
This weekend we started back filling. Before we could start dumping dirt into the holes we had to hook up the drain tile and install waterproofing on the foundation. The big accomplishment was filling in the "pool" at the west end.In the next few pictures you can see where Jon and his dad got the skidloader stuck...and pulled it out.
Last Wednesday we spent the day putting on the floor sheeting. It is great to have a real floor, especially since that means they could then start putting up the main floor walls.
Well, construction of our house has started, and we are behind on the pictures. We will try to add photos of a new step in the process every day until we are caught up.
Here are photos of the hole in the ground, wet from ground water. That was kinda sad, but it did get wetter unfortunately... Oh well, it's all going to be OK, and probably even better than OK.
Movement is exciting!
There will be a work party this Saturday if you're interested. I'll hint that it includes wood.
